Grand Teton Recycling Station
This project highlighted the creation of a one-stop-shop recycling solution to national parks. In this case, Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. It's officially launched, so if you find yourself in the area, snap a photo for me!
The main attraction is a 12-hatched recycling station for park goers and campers. This station was a great exercise of getting in the mindset of the audience, and applying the design in a way that resonates with them. Clear, concise messaging was crucial in giving the user confidence when interacting with such a potentially overwhelming installation.
Aside from the clear messaging, the background design and color palette took inspiration from the National Park Service's arrowhead logo. On the side of the unit, an image of the park's iconic geological formation with more information on how to use the station. The other side, doors to access the collected material.
Supporting deliverables included a designed recycling receptacle for cigarette butts and a receptacle designed for the collection of fishing line. These additional units will be placed in key areas throughout the park.
